Access to health care for the most impoverished consumers is one of CICODEV's priority programs. CICODEV is an association whose mission is to protect and defend the most vulnerable consumers. Its Executive Director, Mr. Amadou KANOUTE, spoke on TRADE FM network, on the #Coronavirus management in Senegal. He mentioned the need to act on health determinants such as a healthy environment, access to water, education and information in order to promote appropriate behaviours. He also stressed that the Ebola case management is an experience that must be capitalized, while recalling that even if a specific fund has been dedicated to managing the Coronavirus, Senegal needs to prioritize Health within its National Budget. Indeed, Senegal had committed to increasing the budget allocated to this sector by 2% per year. This year, however, the budget has however been decreased by 0.4%. This is a shortcoming because there can be no development without investment in human capital, and human capital is health.
