In Ziguinchor, under the direction of the CRCR and CICODEV Africa, the Food and Soil Festival activities were conducted between April 21-24, 2021 at the El Hadj Amadou A. Sané school in Balingore and the Marie Affinco Diatta school.
The elementary and pre-school students were given sweetened cowpeas and ‘ndambe’ which is a cowpea stew with tomato sauce often cooked with pieces of beef or lamb. This was followed by a film screening and a debate in each school.
Present were: the mayor’s representative, the prefect’s representative, the Grdr, the Academic Inspectorate, IEF, the school directors, the parents, the CGE, the school president
The prefect and the CRCR were asked for :
– A sufficient quantity of organic production capable of feeding the whole community.
– Vegetable gardens within the schools
– a consultation of all stakeholders to discuss and see how to strengthen this partnership and boost the community’s commitment to the canteens.
The festival ended with a broadcast on the community radio KASSOUMAY FM with a presentation by Mrs. Romelie Diatta, focal point of CICODEV, the CRCR and the CNCR. This was an opportunity to present the project, to exchange with the community on the stakes of consuming locally and above all on the impact of consuming locally in school canteens.
