Mosadeq Sahebdin was also appraised by the officers of the Ministry of amendments brought to the draft bill after its presentation for first reading at the National Assembly, for example, the setting up of a Consumer Tribunal instead of a Consumer Disputes Resolution Commission. Additional comments such as abusive notices, pyramid selling and misleading advertisements were also discussed between CAP and the Ministry.
Amadou Kanouté, head of CICODEV Africa, the pan African Institute for Consumer Citizenship and Development, who accompanied Mosadeq Sahebdin in the discussions, told News on Sunday that he was impressed with the high level of understanding between the advocacy group and the ministry officials and hoped that the new consumer protection bill will help at offering a better protection to Mauritian consumers.
